Residents asked to put forward ideas for projects that could benefit the village

West Hill’s bid to form a breakaway council and gain independence from Ottery St Mary has been given the final seal of approval.

Campaigners have welcomed the proposal that was officially passed by the full East Devon District Council (EDDC) at a meeting on Wednesday (July 27).

Chair of the West Hill Parish Council Campaign group Margaret Hall said: “We are obviously delighted that the new parish council has been approved. The campaign group is now focussing its efforts on preparing for the new council, which will start in May 2017.

“We would welcome suggestions and ideas from West Hill residents for projects that will benefit the village.”

Town and district councillor Paul Carter also welcomed the ‘good news’ and said he looks forward to working with both Ottery and West Hill councils in the future.
