MEMBERS of the West Hill Royal British Legion have been celebrating their eye-catching new roof after raising more than £25,000 for the work.
The club set about a fundraising campaign at the start of this year after the previous roof had come to the end of its life and managed to raise an impressive £16,000 through local efforts and donations.
The club also received £10,000 from the National Lottery, and chairman Dave Underwood said it had been possible thanks to a huge team effort.
He added: “Thanks to our members for their generosity, the builders who carried out the excellent work and Broad Oak Building who lent us the scaffolding for no charge.”
“And a very special thanks to the West Hill WI who donated a further £10,000 for renovation of the interior now that we have a new roof over our heads.”
