What’s on in Sidmouth and Ottery over the Easter weekend?

Seven eggs-elent things to do this weekend
Sidmouth’s traditional hot cross bun giveaway returns at 9am tomorrow (Good Friday) in the Bedford Lawn car park. Town council chairman Jeff Turner will open the event and visitors will be able to enjoy music from Sidmouth Town Band.The giveaway will be held at All Saints Church Hall if there is poor weather.
Also tomorrow, Sidmouth Tennis Club will be selling tasty Easter treats as part of a charity coffee morning. Members are hosting the event at Sidmouth Cricket Club from 10am. Visitors will be able to browse a range of stalls. Proceeds will be donated to local charities including Sidmouth Hospiscare. Entry costs £2 and includes a cup of tea or coffee with a slice of cake or hot cross bun.
Churches in Ottery St Mary will be coming together for the march of witness at 10am, followed by a service at the United Reformed Church.
Then up at Sidmouth’s Stowford Community Centre on Saturday (April 15), an Easter Fair will be held in aid of the Sid Valley Food Bank. With the charity experiencing shortages, supporter Emma Donovan has invited more than 20 stalls to the venue between noon and 3pm tomorrow. On offer will be an Easter egg lucky dip, face painting for children and a raffle, arts and crafts, fashion and flowers and a selection of jams and preservatives. Entry is free.
The first service of Easter will be held at the Bedford Steps on Sidmouth seafront at 7.30am on Sunday, before other services at churches around the Sid Valley. Meanwhile in Ottery, Holy Communion will be held in the churchyard of Ottery Parish Church at 7am, followed by the Great Easter Celebration at 10am.
And on Monday (April 17), St Francis Church will get a boost from a coffee morning in its hall.
Stalls will be selling homemade cakes, books, cards and bric-a-brac from 10am until 11.30am and there will be a raffle.
Entry (£1) includes a cup of tea or coffee.
