Ottery is gearing up for a packed programme of events to see in the Bank Holiday weekend.
Starting on Saturday, there are events at Cadhay House and the Land of Canaan raising money for the parish church and carnival and tar barrels committee respectively.
Ottery Parish Church’s fete will run from 11am to 4pm and includes a range of events and stalls.
Visitors will also be able to take a tour of the Tudor house for £5 each and also be able to chance their hand at the grand draw to win one of 30 prizes.
Entertainment this year includes Jonathan Marshall’s birds of prey, as well as music provided by the Ottery Silver Band and the Blackdown Steel Band.
Julia Bower from the fair committee, said: “The summer fair is a day of celebration, bringing everyone together from the local community and beyond in the beautiful setting of Cadhay Gardens.
“This wonderful family day does also have a serious side as all profits go to our work in the community and the upkeep of our beautiful Parish Church. Ottery St Mary Parish Church attracts many visitors from all over Britain and the World.”
Admission costs £2.50 for adults and is free for children. Parking at the venue is also free.
At the Land of Canaan, organisers are putting the finishing touches for the growing strongman competition at the Land of Cannan, which begins at 11am.
There will be a series of challenges testing all levels of strength ranging from the overhead medley, car deadlift, face-to-face hold and atlas stones.
The event is free with all proceeds donated to keep the tar barrels rolling.
The tar barrels committee are back in action on Sunday with its carnival fun day and classic vintage vehicle show at Chanters House.
Now in its seventh year the vehicle show will once again have an array of classic cars, motor bikes, commercial and vehicles of interest on display.
There will also be slot car racing, children’s rides, tea and cake stalls. The exhibit opens at 11am and is free to all exhibitors and members of public as they walk around the grounds to view.
An hour later, the committee will kick off its carnival fun day in the Land of Canaan and run until the evening with a barbeque, bar, music and other entertainment.
