A woman was detained under the mental health act after a helicopter chase in Ottery on Saturday.

Around 4pm last weekend witnesses saw several police cars chase up Butts Road in pursuit of a vehicle.

They said they saw officers blocking in the car at the end of the cul-de-sac while the police helicopter hovered above, and despite attempts to escape the driver was eventually removed from the vehicle and taken in custody.

A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed a woman from outside the force area had been detained under the mental health act following the incident.
