A WOODLAND Cooperative based in Sidmouth is appealing for support to help improve woodlands in Salcombe Hill and Peak Hill.
Axewoods Cooperative is aiming to link walkers, wood burners and wildlife lovers with the opportunity to support community working groups improving woodlands in the Sidmouth area.
The group is currently in the process of establishing a formal agreement with the National Trust, which owns the woodland.
Axewoods volunteer coordinator John Bell said: “Our work is focused on communities needing wood and wanting to see their effort improve woodlands close to them for wildlife and for a range of outdoor activities, including forest schools, hurdle making, coppicing.”
The cooperative is looking to attract 100 supporters, which will enable it to build longer term working relationships with woodlands.
John said: “There is enough potential woodland on offer to keep hundreds busy for a generation.”
