Work to fix massive Sidmouth pothole to take place tonight

Lab tests to discover what is moving under Sidmouth’s Triangle have now been carried out.
The results are expected to be ready in the early New Year.
The Herald previously reported on the super-sized pothole which appeared next to the Three Cornered Plot a couple of months ago.
Despite attempts to fill the pothole, it came back bigger than ever and in November measured in at two metres by one metre, with a depth of 10 centimetres at its centre.
While Highways wait for the results, a temporary repair will be carried out, until a permanent solution can be found.
Councillor Stuart Hughes said it was likely the presence of coal tar under the road which was the cause of the poor performance.
He said: “We have done works on that road before. We believe there is something moving under there.
“It has been filled two or three times but this time it is a lot larger.”
