WORK is taking place on a much-needed £11,000 brush-up for Jacob’s Ladder.

Scaffolding has been erected for the project – with paint provided for free by Dulux.

Sidmouth will feature in the paint firm’s national marketing.

The unique stairway has been stripped and given a fresh coat of gloss.

Bad weather delayed the start of the project but the district council hopes the landmark can be re-opened by the end of this week.
