Armed forces veterans have been invited to a wreath-laying at Sidmouth War Memorial in tribute to HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh who died on Friday, April 9.

Andrew Rugg-Gunn, Hon Sec, Sidmouth and District Royal Naval Old Comrades Association, said: “Sidmouth and District RNOCA is inviting other armed forces veterans to muster at the War Memorial on Saturday, April 17 when Ian Barlow, the chair of Sidmouth Town Council, will be laying a wreath at 3pm in grateful memory of HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Admiral of the Fleet and Captain General of the Royal Marines.
The gathering will conform with current Covid guidelines.”

The ceremony will coincide with the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, which takes place at 3pm in St George's Chapel, Windsor. It will be a ceremonial Royal funeral, the same as for Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, rather than a state funeral, which is usually reserved for monarchs
