A SIDMOUTH woman's effort in the Second World War was acknowledged at an award ceremony at the weekend.
Mary Richards, of Primley Road, was presented with a veterans badge and certificate at the War Memorial Club on Saturday by Dave O'Connor, chairman of the Sidmouth branch of the Royal British Legion.
Mary, of the O'Brian family, whose brothers, Jimmy, Wiz and Lenny were well known boxers and rugby players, served with the anti-aircraft defence during the war.
Anyone interested in applying for their veteran's badge and certificate should contact Dave O'Connor on (01395) 516160.
They will need to provide details of their service, including service number, date of enlistment into the forces, date of discharge, date of birth and national insurance number.
