A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Beer cleaned graffiti off the shelter in Jubilee Gardens over the weekend as punishment for damaging two cars.
The man had admitted to causing damage to two vehicles in Park Road in the summer, and the cleaning was part of a restorative justice agreement in which he also had to write letters of apology to the victims.
He was initially going to pay compensation but was unable to do so. It was therefore decided that carrying out physical work that would benefit the community was an appropriate and proportionate punishment.
