TWO Sidmouth youths assaulted a female police officer in an incident involving pepper spray, police have said.
Officers were called to a road in Sidmouth on Monday evening following a report of anti-social behaviour by a group of youths, who were thought to be under the influence of alcohol.
Police say pepper spray was used in order to arrest a 15-year-old youth for drunk and disorderly behaviour after it is alleged the youth became aggressive towards an officer.
She sustained minor injuries during the incident.
A 16-year-old youth was also arrested in connection with the incident, police said.
Detective Sergeant Ian Tyers, of Honiton CID, confirmed a 15-year-old youth will receive a final warning when he attends Heavitree Police Station next week.
* A 16-year-old youth has been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and assaulting a police officer. He is due to appear before Central Devon Youth Court on Wednesday, August 12.
