Sidmouth Rugby Club was well represented as the Devon RFU took two Under-16 sides to St Austell for matches against their Cornwall counterparts.
The B fixture was played first and featured Evan Hourihan at flanker and Noah Finlay was a half-time substitute at prop. Both Sidmouth lads performed extremely well in an incredibly close game that saw Cornwall pinch a 21-17 victory with a late try.
In the A fixture, Sidmouth’s Harvey Green played at scrum half and had the honour of captaining the Devon team in the first half. Sidmouth club-mate played at number 8 and was selected as captain in the second period.
In difficult wet conditions and against a physically imposing Cornwall side, Devon got off to a sluggish start and were trailing 24-0 at half-time. Devon improved considerably after the break and scored a converted try, as the game ended in a 24-7 win for Cornwall.
