Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club men’s third team have secured the second promotion spot in the Riviera Division 2 league after a confident 2-0 win at home to Torbay 3.
In their home fixture, the firsts lost to Mendip, 1-6, and the second team, who travelled to take on Chard, who were undefeated at the top of their division, lost 4-1. Having said that, Chard had only conceded nine goals all season, so to score against them was of note.
The women’s first team claimed a point in their home fixture against Taw Valley, with a 2-2 draw, while the seconds claimed all the points, beating White Eagles 2 in another home fixture, 5-2.
The third team travelled to Exe 3 and suffered a heavy defeat, losing 13-0, and the fourth team went down 6-0 at Isca and Exeter University 6.
This weekend, the women’s first team travel to Okehampton for a Devon Cup semi-final.
