The club held the annual prizegiving, when winners of the many competitions held throughout the year receive their trophies from first the ladies' captain Margaret Deuce and then, finally, club captain Neil Faulkner. Neil presented the last and most prestigious trophy to Bob Johnston, as Club Champion 2008, following his recent victory in the final over runner up Chris Lewis. In a fine and well received speech, Bob thanked Chris, his other opponents and golfing partners throughout the last year for the company and friendship Sidmouth is noted for, and reminded us all how lucky we are to be playing a great game at a great club. The official proceedings were drawn to a close when club president Chris Timms made the official and popular announcement that the past six club captains had chosen Nick Bater as their nomination for vice captain in 2009. We all spent the remainder of the evening celebrating another great occasion on the western slopes of the glorious Sid Valley.
