Just as the foul weather relented, allowing some busy golf days at Sidmouth and elsewhere, lockdown, a necessary step of course, stopped golf in England in its tracks.
Two competitions at Sidmouth GC before the latest lockdown, starting with the second round of the Winter League.
Under betterball format with two scores to count and with the fourth hole out of commission, an excellent score of 87 won the round, posted by John Cowan, Jonathan Lee and Harrison Jones. Second placed Ian Jones, Simon Emerson and Mike Shepherd scored 81, ahead of third-placed Adrian Priest, Steve Channing and Les Pratt on 77.
The Senior Eclectic saw ever-present Phil Spencer winning with 33, again with only 17 holes available. Nigel Sharp came in with 32, ahead of Charles Brown on a more modest 29.
As it stands, there will be no golf in England until at least mid February, so happy Valentine's Day.
