Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club men’s second team were the only side to have a fixture on Saturday, December 19, and claimed three points with an entertaining 4-3 victory at Isca D.
In an end-to-end encounter against an experienced side, the visitors took an early lead with Jack Ellison scoring in the opening seconds.
Not to be outdone, the home side started to apply pressure and levelled the scores from a well-taken short corner and later in the half took the lead to leave it 2-1 to Isca at the interval.
The second half saw SOHC play with renewed vigour and score three times with goals from Daniel Devine, Josh Geare and Luke Tierney to give the visitors a 2-4 lead before Isca grabbed one back to make it a nervy finish for the seconds but they held out for victory and a valuable three points.
