Sidmouth B team entertained Axe Cliff in the second leg of the Jurassic Cup, a competition that is played annually between the clubs, writes Mike Dommett.
Sidmouth began the day needing to overturn a two match deficit, having lost the earlier meet at Axe Cliff by four matches to two.
As it was, some splendid golf by the home side led to a four-and-a-half to a half overall success on the day and that all meant that Sidmouth took the overall honours to the tune of a six-and-a-half to four-and-a-half score line, and with it secured the Jurassic Cup for the next 12 months.
First up was Mike Dommett with his playing partner Sean Murphy in a closely fought encounter winning by two up on the 18th green.
Second in was Malcolm Willoughby and playing partner Paul Renken, who managed a very commendable halve against stiff opposition.
This was followed by the strong pairing of John Welch and playing partner John Barnard, who had a five-and-four success, this winning margin being equalled by the partnership of Allan Malcolm and his playing partner Mike Shepherd, the latter who was playing in his first match having recently joined the club.
Finally, another win by four-and-three was achieved by the pairing of Pete Northcott and his playing partner Steve Channing, which concluded a very good afternoon by the home side.
The match was played in excellent spirit on a glorious summer afternoon and the on-course action was followed by a superb meal.
Despite the dry weather, congratulations also go to the greens staff as many players commented on the wonderful condition of the course, especially the greens.
