Sidmouth Town sit out the next two Saturdays, March 10 and 17, before their next South West Peninsula League Eastern Division game, a March 24 trip to Ilfracombe Town.

It all means that, with the remaining Saturdays in the football season ‘running out’, the chances for Town boss Josh Stunell to get his side some ‘additional’ games is running out as other teams are faced with busy end-of-season schedules.

The problem for the Town boss is not quite as bad as it might be for other managers for he does have the bulk of his first team squad also signed with other clubs and – as an example – this weekend, eight or nine of his ‘first choice’ eleven will get action with other teams.

However, the lack of current action inevitably means a run of games in a short period and one of those comes after the March 24 trip to Ilfracombe. Three days later the Vikings are away at Bovey Tracey in a midweek match, and then, on Good Friday (March 31), they entertain Budleigh Salterton in a game that is part of the 2018 SWPL Groundhop – when the usual Manstone Lane crowd will be boosted by the presence of over 100 ‘Groundhoppers’.
