Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club (SOHC) ladies’ third team secured their fifth win of the Petroc Division Two season when they beat Teign III 3-1.
SOHC fell behind to an early Teign goal, but once they got a foothold in the contest they began to display disciplined and strong defending from Mo Mylne, Mary Ackland and Karhys Flemingyon and confident goalkeeping from Millie Guy.
From this solid base the midfield and forward players were able to link-up play well and the incisive runs from Izzy Shaw-Smith, Emily Rudolph, Eleanor Bradshaw-Smith, Chris Chapman, and Amy Oliver paid dividends when Amy Oliver levelled things up.
It was no more than SOHC deserved when they won the game thanks to a Liz Knapp finish.
Tomorrow, the third team play away at Dawlish (1.30pm) and are seeking a season’s double, for they beat the seasiders 1-0 when the pair met in East Devon back in October.
The ladies’ fourth team were beaten 5-1 by Torbay II and tomorrow they are in action at Sidmouth when they entertain Isca V who beat them 7-1 when they met in Ottery earlier in the season.
