Sidmouth Town Reserves were comfortable winners when they travelled to Dawlish Town for their latest Macron League Division One outing.
Had it not been for a Man of the Match performance from the home glovesman then the Vikings second string would have returned to East Devon with an even bigger win!
On a wide pitch it seemed obvious to play in wide areas and get in behind the home defence. However, despite the fact that the players discussed the benefits of using the full width, they, for some strange reason, opted not to do so!
It took a goal against the run of play from the home side to shake a reaction from the Vikings and they were soon level and then ahead as Ben Miller scored twice to see the side into a 2-1 interval lead.
After the break it was Town who dominated from first whistle to last, but they could only muster two more goals – thanks in the main to the exploits of the home goalkeeper – with Will Jenkins and Aidy Parr finding the back of the net. Tomorrow (Saturday) the Town second team travel to meet table-topping Lyme Regis (3pm).
