Sidmouth Town extended their unbeaten home run to five game with a 2-1 Manstone Lane success over Bovey Tracey.

The Vikings began well with Nathan Antat and new signing Brendon Green giving the visitors plenty to think about.

Town were enjoying near complete control in the first half and Antat, Jamie Orchard and Dan Evans all made sure that the Bovey Tracey glovesman was earning his corn!

The deadlock was eventually broken on the half hour with Dan Norman the scorer, clinically finishing after a terrific cross from Antat.

For the second time this season the supporters at Manstone Lane saw an example of top drawer sportsmanship as the referee was, somewhat surprisingly, unsure if Norman’s shot had crossed the line and he needed the visiting linesperson to guide him!

Town took their 1-0 lead into the break and began the second half as they ended the first.

With the pressure mounting it was no surprise when the lead was doubled and again the scorer was Norman, tucking away a loose ball in the box with deadly accuracy.

However, with a two-goal advantage Town neased off which gave the visitors some encouragement. On the hour mark a hopeful ball into the box was met by Bovey’s Joe Bushin who won his header against James Clampin and the ball flew past the on-rushing Town glovesman Dan Stapleton, who got injured in the process!

Town boss Josh Stunell turned to his bench and introduced fresh legs in the shape of Ben Burrows and Ollie Binion for some much needed energy.

With 15 minutes left Stapleton succumbed to his earlier injury and Kieran White donned the gloves and proved to be an able replacement making several fine stops.

Five minutes from time Bovey thought that they had equalised; Bushin believed that he had beat the offside trap and riffled past White, however to his anger he was flagged for offside, a tight call but the right one as it looked like the vastly experienced striker mistimed his run.
