Sidmouth Croquet Club’s team that play in the South West Federation Level Play Golf Croquet League were well beaten in their final outing of the league season, writes David Butler.
They travelled to Budleigh with a team of six and ended soundly defeated by very strong home team.
On immaculate lawns, and in perfect conditions, Sidmouth started well, winning two of the four double’s meetings. However, from there it all went down hill as they won just two of the 16 singles to lose 16 games to four in the 20 game match.
Overall, in this League, against six other clubs, Sidmouth won twice, defeating Weston-super-Mare and Cornwall and they lost to East Dorset, Kingston Maurward, Swanage and Budleigh Salterton.
