Ottery bowlers were again in good form last week, writes Michael Smith.

In the Exeter and District Over-60s League the A team continued their fine run of wins with a victory on both rinks away at Morchard Bishop A.

Terry House, Chris Hawke and skip John Pethick served up the best win at 20-10.

However, the B team slipped up again, losing on both rinks to Sidmouth C.

The defeat also meant the team conceding top spot in the Division Seven table.

Defeat also for the C team, beaten on both rinks by visiting Wellington A.

There was however, success for Ottery in a meeting with Budleigh who were beaten 101-72. The most impressive success was the 23-8 win by Jill White, Alan Lascelles and skip Brian Baker.

On a glorious afternoon, the visit to Topsham resulted in a close 113-110 win for Ottery, although losing four rinks to two, thanks largely to a 29-12 victory by Tony Bushell, Clive Russell, Margaret Bright and skip Dave Brown.

Ottery were then on their travels to Plymstock where they secured a 72-64 win, and by three rinks to one.

Val Kille. Carol Bennett, Ray Luscombe and skip Mollie Parker dished up the top result with a 22-12 victory.

Last, but not least, Ottery played host to Tiverton Boro’ in the EEML, the rinks were shared, but Ottery came away with the spoils thanks to a 76-61 score line.

Tony Bushell, Sharon Kenny, Dave Brown and skip Terry House had a good 23-9 success.
