It was a perfect day for the Club’s annual junior/senior tournament which took place on Sunday, writes Kate Truman.
With many of the club’s older juniors now hitting the ball better than some of the adults, a great afternoon of competitive tennis was witnessed!
Nine pairs competed in a round-robin contest for the title and, following a close fought battle between sibling rivals Molly and Jess Wiltshire and their respective partners, Jed Ionov-Flint and Debbie Snelgrove, it was Molly and Jed who eventually triumphed - congratulations!
The day finished with a well-earned cold drink from the bar and a very enjoyable barbecue.
It’s fantastic to see such a lively and talented junior section thriving at the club, with many of the youngsters now representing the club in adult league matches.
Any Sidmouth youngsters wanting to play some tennis over the summer are welcome to sign up to one of the tennis camps being run by club coaches Sue Wiltshire and Daryl Bass during the summer holidays.
There are sessions for all age groups and non-members are welcome. For dull details, visit the club’s website page (https://sites.google.com/site/sidmouthtennisclubcouk/juniors-coaching) or contact Sue on 07402 047011, email: sue.wiltshire@talk21.com
