On Saturday, the Charles Stanley Deane Medal was the competition, an annual event always played in April, with a replica Deane Medal the prize for each of the three Divisional winners, writes John Barnard.
In Division One, Kevin Legg re affirmed his excellent early season form with a medal score of nett 66, against standard scratch of 69. A steady opening nine was then followed by a two under par gross back nine with a birdie on the last to seal his win by one shot. In second place was Lewis Perry who shot three birdies but a number of bogies cost him the win. In third place was Steve Crabbe, showing a return to some form with a nett 68.
In Division Two, Craig Melluish won by three shots with a nett 66. A birdie on the fifth and a solid back nine consolidated his win. In second place was veteran John Game with a nett 69. John managed two birdies but a number of double bogies prevented a great score. Third was Eric McMath with a nett 70.
In Division Three, it was a small field but Dan Churchill won the Medal, five shots ahead of Keith White. Sam Searle will have been surprised to get third place!
