The scoring in the Charles Stanley sponsored Monday Stableford was again, very good, writes John Barnard.

Leading the way was Richard Trim with 40 points. He struggled on the front nine with five bogies and a no score, but having birdied the 10th, he then rattled off five pars and nothing worse than a bogie to get a handicap reduction to 19. In second place on countback was Martin Hillson. He again scored better on the back nine to get a two shot reduction to 22.

In third place was club manager Jonathan Lee scoring 39 points, continuing a fine vein of scoring while not playing great. There were four players with 39 points but Jonathan kept ahead due to a two under gross back nine, two birdies and seven pars.

In the birdie count, John Jones hasn’t played in the last three weeks which has let Jonathan Lee reduce his lead.

Jones has 47 birdies, Lee is second with 44 and Neil Holland a distant third with 33. In the eclectic, Mike Knight kept his lead over Jonathan Lee by a shot.
