Sidmouth ladies B side completed a rain interrupted match last Sunday at home to near neighbours Exmouth who fielded one very dominant player that made sure of both their rubbers for the away side, writes Lesley Cranston.
Kate Truman and Marlene Maynard lost 2-6, 2-6 to them whilst Vici Topping and Jackie Ensall, after losing the first set 1-6, made more of a fight of it in the second in which they had set points, but succumbed 5-7. They did have a fairly easy win against the second couple, 6-3, 6-2, but Truman and Maynard dropped a set against this same pair which meant the points went Exmouth’s way 5-4.
Nevertheless, Sidmouth remain second in their division but will need to maintain their record in the second half of the season if they are to keep hopes of promotion alive.
