Sidmouth 2, Newton Abbot 0 Sidmouth Under-15s moved smoothly into the next round of the County Cup with a slick all-round performance.
They began well with Dylan King and Joe Miller combining well to cause problems down the right flank.
After some fine goal keeping denied them, Sidmouth eventually went in front thanks to a powerful strike from Connor Murphy.
Newton Abbot responded well, but were unable to unlock an impressive Sidmouth defence and Freddie King scored a second to send his side into the break with a healthy advantage.
After the break there was more end-to-end play with Harvey Sargent and Tyler Wellman driving Sidmouth forward. The visitors rallied again, but once more the home defence of Jonny Surtees, Al Forsyth, Dylan King and influential skipper Jamie Newbery were their equals and it was no more than the side deserved when the final whistle blew giving them a clean sheet success and a place in round three of the competition.
