Sidmouth head for Bovey Tracey on Saturday knowing that only a win will keep their slim Francis Clark Devon League premier title hopes alive, and even victory at Bovey Tracey may not be sufficient.
After last Saturday’s across the board washout it meant every team in the top flight banked six points.
With two matches remaining Exmouth lead with 251 points, 12 more than second place Bovey who in turn are seven better off than Sidmouth.
Exmouth entertain North Devon who have the capability to put out a team to beat any in the Premier Division, a fact not lost on Sidmouth skipper Will Murray who says: “We can only do our job which has to be to get the win at Bovey Tracey. It’s conceivable that North Devon could do a number on Exmouth and that would take it to the final day. The odds are certainly against us, but we have to keep believing.”
The final day matches see Exmouth travel to Cornwood, Bovey visit Bradninch and Sidmouth end up with a Budleigh team who will be starting next season in the A Division and will have their relegation confirmed at stumps on Saturday.
