Sidmouth Croquet Club did very well in the South West Federation Short Croquet at Nailsea, winning 9 games out of 16 and coming second in their group, writes Colin Walls.
Congratulations to the team, particularly Muriel Philpott and Richard Thurlow who played exceptionally well, winning three out of four games each.
This variation of the game is played on half-sized lawns which places a premium on scoring heavily while you can; there is nowhere to hide on such a small lawn!
This annual event gives players a chance to get going at the start of the season and is a very welcome introduction to competitive play.
