A pair of solid results pushed Exeter’s Harry Tincknell up a place in the highly competitive Cooper Tires British F3 International Series standings when the championship visited the notorious F1 circuit Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, on July 27-28 .
In qualifying for the feature race, a fastest lap time of 2:15.914 put Tincknell 10th on the grid, which once again combined drivers from both the British F3 and FIA European F3 series.
Tincknell’s second-best qualifying time put him ninth on the grid for the opening race, where the 20-year-old showed his strength of character to recover from a poor start to take a respectable 13th position in the extended 29-car field.
The second race of the weekend was cancelled due to heavy rain, but Tincknell returned with a strong performance in race three, gaining a place in the 40-minute encounter to take ninth overall and sixth in class.
