Apart from last year, when we celebrated our centenary, Sidmouth Bowling Club have raised many thousands of pounds for local charities.

This year will be no exception.

Bert Hague and his wife Pat have worked so hard this year and, at one time, we feared we would have to run our Bonanza over two days as we had so much to sell.

Apart from what has been donated by club members to be sold, we have around 100 bottles of various beverages appearing on our bottle raffle which always takes a large amount from those of us who like a small tipple with our evening's pursuits.

This year the Sidmouth Voluntary Services has been chosen to receive the monies and we are hoping for a bumper cheque to be passed on to them.

All we pray for is that the weather is kind for the event - on Bank Holiday Monday.

Admission to the club is only 20p.

We open at 9.30am, and I am certain there will be a queue from 8.30 onwards.

The raffle prizes are something else; Bert has been writing to local hotels for donations of weekends away, dinners for two etc.

We look forward to welcoming you to this morning at the bowls club. It is always a popular two to three hours of fun.
