After weeks of weather-induced cancellations, the U9 Sidmouth Raiders were chomping at the bit to take on Honiton and West Hill at Longpark.After a shaky start Sidmouth took the lead through Jack Gibson with a well worked move. A more settled performance followed, with Tom Woodruff shooting wide and Adam Harris and Jordan Parsons combining well. Stout defending by Scott Hughes, Joe Tweedy and substitute Drew Birkhead kept Honiton at bay, but a momentary lapse in concentration by the outfield players left keeper Jack Rowland exposed and a final score of 1-1 left the Raiders feeling robbed.Hungry for revenge, the Raiders took on a stronger team in West Hill and struck goal within 15 seconds through Jack Gibson. Bathing in their own glory, they were caught napping by a skilful individual goal within seconds. With committed team performances from all players, the Raiders moved the ball around well and were unlucky to find themselves 3-1 down with five minutes left to play. A period of sustained pressure brought goals from Scott Hughes and Joe Tweedy and a thrilling climax to the game.
