It has been a tough start to the South-West Peninsula League season for Sidmouth Town but there is a feeling at Manstone Lane that performances have been better than results suggest.

Last weekend’s trip to Brixham was always going to be tough but even then, the 4-0 defeat was a little harsh on the Vikings, who are second from bottom after one win from their opening six games.

The encouragement for the club is that the previous defeats to Teignmouth and Axminster were by a solitary goal. A trip to Dartmouth on Saturday will be another test but someone is soon going to feel the force of the Vikings.

Sidmouth Town 2nds enjoyed a positive weekend in the Devon & Exeter League, Scott Hughes, Corey Rogers and Will Jenkins scoring in a 3-2 win over Sandford, while Louis Adey banged in four goals for Sidmouth 3rds in a thrilling 6-4 win over Uplyme.
