It has been a tough start to the South-West Peninsula League season for Sidmouth Town but last weekend was a demonstration in clinical finishing, lifting spirits at Manstone Lane.

After a tame and goalless first period at Elburton Villa, the Vikings found a breakthrough immediately after the restart, Ash Hudd firing into the bottom corner and Will Jenkins made it 2-0 on the hour after good work from Louis Jagger Cane.

He was also involved in third, as an Elburton defender turned the ball into his own net and the rampant Vikings made it four when Jamie Vaughan-Ryall pounced on loose defending to convert. A pulsating second-half display was completed by Kieren Daniels for a morale-boosting 5-0 victory.

Unfortunately, the Vikings were beaten by a wonder strike at high-flying Crediton in midweek and welcome the same opposition in the FA Vase on Saturday.
