The Vikings of Sidmouth Town will be more than happy not to see the blue of Crediton United for a very long time after a bruising week in two competitions.
Town started with a trip to Creddy in the South-West Peninsula League and an incredibly tight game was ultimately decided by a late stunner from the hosts, a result that leaves Sidmouth five from bottom ahead of this weekend’s trip to seventh-placed Bovey Tracey.
The Vikings then welcomed Crediton in the FA Vase and this defeat was a lot more painful. Sidmouth did have their chances on the day but were wasteful in front of goal and sloppy at the back, as Creddy romped to a 6-0 success.
Sidmouth Town 2nds travelled to Kentisbeare in the Stitch2Print Devon and Exeter League and it turned out to be a terrific game. Ewan Anderson and Ben Latham scored for Town but they eventually went down to a 3-2 defeat.
A tough weekend for the club was completed by a 4-2 loss for Sidmouth 3rds at East Budleigh 2nds in Division 4. In-form Louis Adey bagged a brace but it wasn’t enough on the day for Sidmouth, who are third in the table.
