The teams at Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club achieved a mixed bag of results at the weekend.
On the women’s side of the club, the first team travelled to take on Taunton Civil Service 1 and came away with a good win, 2-4. The second team also travelled to Somerset, taking on Taunton Vale, and claimed a point with a 2-2 draw.
The third and fourth teams faced each other in the league, and it was the fourth team, which is a development side, that claimed the points, winning 3-0.
On the men’s side of the club, both the first and second teams took on sides from Chard.
The first team travelled to the Somerset town for an entertaining 4-4 draw against Chard 1, while Chard 2 travelled to take on the men’s second team at Ottery St Mary. In another tight encounter, it was the home side that claimed the points, winning 2-1.
The men’s third team did not fare so well in their home fixture when they took on Devonport Services, losing heavily to a well-drilled team, who are clearly destined for a strong season. The fourth team development side took on Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets at home, but lost 1-4.
