It was a frustrating weekend of football for Sidmouth Town, as both the first and second-teams slipped to narrow defeats.

In the Peninsula League, a goal from Ash Small gave the Vikings a surprise lead at table-topping Okehampton Argyle but, despite creating numerous chances, Sidmouth eventually went down to a 2-1 loss.

The 2nds took on Clyst Valley and a Jack Drew-Cull shot from 25 yards on seven flew just wide of the post for Sidmouth. Clyst grabbed the lead before another two great strikes from Drew-Cull and Frank Long were again just wide. Stand-in goalkeeper Robbie Hallett kept Sidmouth in the game with a fantastic save just before half time.

The Vikings exerted constant pressure after the break but couldn't find the equaliser. There was no lack of endeavour from the players but luck was not on their side. The well-deserved Man of the Match was Robbie Hallett.
