Sidmouth Golf Club held its annual Turkey Trot better ball pairs competition with a full field of festive players.

Top team on the day was Bernard Ireson and John Arnatt with an amazing score of 49 points. Jonty Clews and Rose Fox must have felt confident with their 48, but only managed second spot and in third place were John Fox and Graham Lanceley, who posted the best of several scores of 45 after countback. The leading Ladies' team featured Yvonne Anning and Amy Moore, who came in with 39 points.

The latest Winter League round on Sunday was played under a Reverse Waltz format. The winning threesome were Adrian White, Chris Roberts and John Cowan, who scored 72 on a very cold day when keeping warm enough to strike the ball was very difficult.

In second were Steve Harper-Smith, Jon Evans and Martin Crockett on 68, whilst a trio of Jones, Ian, Terry and Harrison took third with 66 points.

The Seniors Xmas Competition on Monday was an Individual Medalford and Steve Kerrigan won with a brilliant score 11 after subtracting his stableford score from his front nine medal score. Jonty Clews and John Fox, who were enjoying their weekend, filled the next two places with 13 and 14 respectively.

This was followed in the evening by the Seniors Christmas Dinner, where members and partners were wined and dined, in part as a thank you for putting up with all those hard luck tales throughout the year of inexplicable shanks and slices or those missed putts that ruined their day!

The penultimate Ladies County Stableford competition for 2022 was played with cold, dry weather but the winter conditions were having an adverse impact on many of the scores.

However, Maria Clapp managed a great total of 34 to finish first, with Vici Topping coming second with 31 and Ros Eaton a close third with 30 points. No-one managed a ‘2’ on the day.
