Another week, another seven days of dry weather, albeit a little chillier than of late, but great golfing weather for February.
Last Friday was a good start to the weekend for Bernie Millward, who won the Sidmouth Golf Club Stableford with an excellent 42 points. Mark McGoogan on 40 took second from Russell Bess in third, who posted 36 points.
Saturday was the last round of the Streatham Trophy pairs competition heats before the final and Iain Roberts and Russell Bess beat the field with a solid 45 points from, in second place, Mitch Davidson and David Mears on 44, beating Jamie Souttar and James Winchester on countback.
The Monday Stableford saw the resurgent Steve Kerrigan taking the honours again with an outstanding 46 points from Colin Mitchell on 39 and Bernie Millward settling for third this time on 37 points.
Steve also won the senior stableford ahead of Graham Lanceley, despite him having his best round for a while with 42, and Phil Spencer, on 40, consolidated his second spot in the Senior Eclectic. Jonty continues to lead this, despite being unable to play through injury, whilst Steve Nunn remains third.
The ladies County Prize was played in beautiful sunshine with a keen northerly wind felt on some holes.
Coming first with a great score of 37 points was Mandy Furniss, Debbie Snelgrove was in second place with 35 points, closely followed by Maria Clapp with a score of 32.
