In the final game of Foxlands League season, Sidmouth Ladies performed admirably against the Torbay Tigers.

Sidmouth won on three of the four rinks and just missed out on an overall win, Sidmouth 62 Torbay 67. At home both rinks won; Mary Turner, Brenda Somerfield and skip Jill Bishop by 20 – 8, and Jean Brimson, Marie Timms and skip Carol Smith by 15 - 12.

One away rink were trailing by 15-18 in the final end but managed to score a great four shots to win 19 - 18 and bank that very important two points – well done Karen Hollingdale, Paddy Chew and skip Sue Turner.

Madeira sent three men’s triples to play Sidmouth in a friendly local derby and the hosts lost on two of the three rinks, but only by very small margins. However, the third rink of Bill Sheerman, Bert Hague and skip Don Smith won by such a great margin (27 – 12), it meant an overall win for Sidmouth of 53 - 42.

Then came an away mixed game at neighbours Budleigh Salterton. Just two rinks were played and the triple of Christine Ward, Wilf Radburn and skip John Mason won by a couple of shots, 15 – 13, in an exciting game. However, although winning 10 of the 18 ends, the second Sidmouth triple managed to lose a painful seven shots in the final end, having entered that stage at 16 – 16, which meant Budleigh won overall by five shots.

Finally, in another away game against Budleigh, two ladies triples made the short trip for another enjoyable derby. In an excellent match that was closely contested right the way through, Budleigh triumphed by a single point, 32 – 31.

One of the Sidmouth rinks was down by 10 - 16 after 15 ends, but had a great recovery, winning their final their ends to a credible finish of 12 -16. However, the second rink, who at the penultimate end were in front at 17- 12, lost four shots on the final end but luckily hung on to win by one shot - they were Liz Boyle, Sheila Faulkner and skip Marie Timms.
