Last Saturday at Sidmouth Bowls Club, the second leg of the Ken Titherington Trophy match between the club's B Team and their Emerton Court team took place under cloudy skies.

In a fascinating clash between two teams who were obviously very familiar with each other was thankfully spared downpours for most of the duration.

Emerton Court were leading 4 - 2 from the first leg, so B Team Captain Hugh Dorliac was hoping for an improvement this time out. Sadly, he didn't set the trend with partner Bill Hayes, as they went down to 2 & 1 defeat, albeit having recovered from five down at one point.

It was a similar result in the second match and just one shot in it in the third, before a super effort from Mitch Davidson with Jamie Souttar, taking on the Emerton Court Captain John Barnard and Lester Willmington, as they beat them quite comfortably.

When the next B team pairing of Chris Grubb and Mike Gosling also won, Hugh's hopes were growing, only for them to be dashed when Martin Crockett and Howard Cushing couldn't maintain the run, going down by 2 & 1.

It was therefore a repeat win by Emerton Court, giving them an 8 to 4 victory and the Trophy for another year. Congratulations to everyone involved for another terrific match.

The Friday Stableford was won by David Fitzhenry with a solid 44 points, ahead of ever-present Russell Bess, who could only manage 37 this week - probably heard the Handicap Police were nosing about! Bernie Millward similarly only posted a 36 to take third spot.

On Sunday, in the Improvers 9 hole competition, the ladies took the top spots with Rebecca Levi pipping Adriana Chittleborough to first place on countback with 15 points apiece.

The Monday Stableford was won by Bernie Millward (uh oh) on 40 with Colin Mitchell 38, and John Barnard 37 taking the minor places. In the Seniors eclectic, Bernie and Colin featured again with Paul Blay in third on countback.
