After their brilliant winning streak had come to an end at Teignmouth, the challenge for Sidmouth was to start a new run at home to Cullompton Rangers.

Knowing they had no game on the weekend, the Vikings could give everything at Manstone Lane but actually fell behind to a sloppy opener on four minutes. Parity was eventually restored when Tom Bray was brought down for a penalty and Liam Carey calmly slotted the spot-kick.

Sidmouth grabbed a half-time lead when a free-kick caused chaos in the Cully defence and bounced in for a fortunate own goal.

The lively Louis Jagger Cane thundered an effort against the bar on the hour but Sidmouth would not be denied a deserved third, Carey whipping over a super corner for Nathan Cooper to power home a fine header.

Sidmouth’s next game is at home to Elburton Villa on Tuesday, April 4.
