There more wins than defeats for Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club at the weekend with only one of the teams that played losing.

In the women’s side of the club, the first team edged a seven-goal thriller, winning 4-3 in a home game against Taunton Civil Service 1.

There was the same number of goals in the women’s third team match, but in this case the result was 6-1 to the home side, with visitors, Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets, heavily beaten. The fourth team development side travelled to Exe 5 and claimed victory, winning 0-2.

The men’s second team were emphatic winners when they took the long journey to Mid Somerset 2, with the home side unable to find the net and a final score of 0-7. In an away match for the fourth team development side against Isca 7, the SOHC team came away victorious with a 1-2 win.

It was only the men’s third team that suffered defeat in a home game against Teign 1, with a final score of 2-9. This weekend will see the last fixtures of the season for most of the teams, although the women’s first team will still have a cup final to play on April 22.
