Tipton St John travelled to County Hall Exeter to take on Coaver Gerries and soon had the home side in trouble. Owen Smith dismissed both the openers thanks to catches by keeper Dave Thayre and David Rowe. Dave Alford removed Andy Padfield thanks to yet another catch by John Buckland.

Smith took a third wicket, bowling Chubb to give him figures of 3-15. A recovery partnership between Dyer and Lewis of 27 was ended by Phil Wright, who then bowled Dyer for 30. A fightback by JP Sewell with a brisk 36 took the Gerries score to 123.

In reply, Phil Tolley was content to nudge singles, whilst Rowe, in his last match before returning to the USA, fired a brisk 42 off 41 balls including seven boundaries. Shortly after Rowe was caught, Tolley retired on 25 to give others a bat.

Andrew Smith in his first game of cricket for several years showed a good eye and hit 27 off 22 balls before being caught in the deep, whilst Lev Konar hit a couple of boundaries in his 10 not out. It was John Buckland who hit the winning runs with 20 overs to spare as Tipton reached 125-3.
