A 97th minute from Connor Swingler saw the Vikings make it three wins from three, as the substitute broke Bishops Lydeard hearts.

Sidmouth forced a flurry of early corners, Will Jenkins coming closest with a back-post header. The relentless pressure continued with Louis Jagger Cane and Ashley Small both testing the Lydeard ‘keeper.

The deadlock was broken when a wonderful pass from Ashley Hudd played in Jagger Cane and he rifled the ball into the back of the net.

The score remained 1-0 at half-time, with Lydeard delighted to be still in the game. A bright start from Bishops saw Taylor go close but his effort was wide of the post.

Hudd struck the post before Lydeard drew level, Connor Bryant scoring from a rebound. After bringing on reinforcements from the bench, the Vikings retook the lead with a sublime passing move.

Tiernan West and Isaac Furness played their way out of trouble before finding Small, who played square to Swingler. He found Carey as the move progressed into the Lydeard half, Carey chopped back and passed to Swingler who fed the ball to Chinnah, his clever ball around the corner to Jenkins saw him combine a one two with Jagger Cane and then Jenkins guided a wonderful effort into the far corner!

The lead was short lived though as Lydeard got back on level terms and a harsh red card for Josh Wadham briefly rocked the Vikings until Swingler kept his nerve with a last-ditch winner.

The Sidmouth Spar Man of the Match was awarded to Louise Jagger Cane (sponsored by Steam Pristine).

Sidmouth 2nds defied the form book to earn an excellent 2-2 draw at league leaders Colyton in the Devon & Exeter League.

As the game played out it was clear that the sides were evenly matched. Sidmouth holding possession and playing the nicer football, Colyton creating the clearer chances, one of these taken chances, giving Colyton a slender half time lead.

Colyton added a second after the break but the Vikings rallied in brilliant fashion. Teenager Sam Hatswell capped his man of the match display to halve the deficit and in stoppage time, Sidmouth goalkeeper Ryan Windsor came up for a corner, caused mayhem, and Scott Hughes smashed in the equaliser.
