We are now past the first month of fixtures in the Exeter and District Table Tennis League and there have been mixed results for the five Ottery St Mary teams, writes David Millen.

Each match consists of three players from each team who play against each other, plus one doubles game, making 10 games in total in each match.

In the top division, the Club's A team have won one and lost two matches, albeit that they have played and lost against two of the stronger teams in the league in Tiverton Rockets and Coaver A.

The B team, playing in the same division, have won three, drawn one, and lost two matches and currently sit in 4th place in the league with newcomer to the Exeter League, Bryan Birkbeck, having won 67% of his games.

In the second division, the Ottery C team have won one, drawn one and lost two with star performances from Sarah O'Leary, returning from 20 years away from the sport, picking up the Player of the Match award away to Tiverton Trojans with three singles wins out of three and combining with Chris Jones to win the doubles.

With only two matches having been played in the third division, the Club's D team have won one match and lost the other, whilst the E team, with three players new to competitive league play, are yet to get off the mark.
