On a weekend where only six of the eight Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club teams played, the club recorded just the one win, writes Andrew Coley.

It was the men’s second team that led the way with a 3-1 victory over visitors Chard 2.

The men’s first team entertained Bristol Firebrands 2 and missed out on the points in a close game, losing 2-3.

With the fourth team having no fixture, the third team travelled to the English Riviera to take on Torbay 3, but were defeated by the only goal of the game, losing 1-0.

On the women’s side of the club, the first team’s game against Isca and Exeter University 5 was postponed but the seconds played the same club’s seventh team at home, losing 2-3.

And finally, the women’s third and fourth teams played each other in a competitive league match and came away with honours even, with a result of 1-1.
