It was a challenging weekend for Sidmouth and Ottery Hockey Club, writes Andrew Coley. The men’s first team were defeated in a home fixture against Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets. In a tight game, the visitors claimed the points with a 3-4 victory.
The second team travelled to Taunton Vale 2 but came away empty-handed, losing 4-2. And it was a similar story for the third team against Ocean City 4, from Plymouth, and it was the visitors’ day with a final result of 0-4. The fourth team development side fared a little better, drawing 0-0 with Torbay 3.
On the women’s side of the club, there were some more positive outcomes. The fourth team travelled to Exeter and Culm Vale Hornets 2 and took all the points by winning the match by the odd goal in seven, 3-4.
The third team entertained Chard 2 at home and again claimed all the points, winning 2-0.
However, the second team were on the wrong end of the result when they played Honiton Hornets away, losing 2-1.
And the first team travelled to Taunton Vale 2. In their case, it was the home side that claimed all the points with a 5-4 victory.
